These ÖBB long-distance trains are still running

Due to the train drivers' strike in Germany, there will also be cancellations and timetable changes in Austria today, Tuesday. The Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) recommend postponing travel to and from Germany. However, some long-distance trains are running (see video above).

These are EC 286-289 and EC 84-87 to/from Munich via Kufstein in Tyrol (on the border with Bavaria). In addition, the private Westbahn runs via the Deutsches Eck, to and from Munich and Rosenheim.

ÖBB long-distance trains to and from Germany via Lindau, on the other hand, will not run between St. Margarethen/Bregenz and Munich. The journey begins and ends on Tuesday either in Passau or Nuremberg. Some night trains will still be affected by the strike on Wednesday.

Tickets valid on the Bavarian Regiobahn
As an additional service, trains will run to Salzburg, where passengers can change to the Bavarian Regiobahn (BRB). ÖBB tickets will be recognized there on Tuesday. In general, the train connection for international tickets will be lifted, provided they were purchased by Sunday at the latest. The tickets are valid up to and including March 19.

The strike is now the sixth industrial action in the wage dispute with Deutsche Bahn. Among other things, the union is demanding a 35-hour week for shift workers with full pay compensation. The employee has so far offered a 36-hour week, which the GDL rejects.

The strike started at 2 a.m. on passenger services and is scheduled to last until 2 a.m. on Wednesday.
