Warning strike at German Lufthansa ends

Air passengers can breathe a sigh of relief: the ground staff of the German AUA parent company Lufthansa ended their warning strike on Saturday with the start of the shift at 7.10 am. Connections between Germany and Austria were also affected. 

The departure boards at the Lufthansa hubs in Frankfurt and Munich still showed some flight cancellations on Saturday morning. Operations are to be gradually resumed over the course of the day. Due to the effects of the strike, there could still be delays and flight cancellations in isolated cases during the course of the day. 

25,000 employees called to strike
The union had called on around 25,000 employees to go on strike since Wednesday evening. Around 1,000 flights were canceled on Thursday and Friday, and only ten to 20 percent of the originally planned flights were able to take place. The additional warning strike by aviation security staff in Hamburg and Frankfurt had already ended on Thursday. 

The ver.di union is demanding an inflation adjustment bonus of EUR 3,000 as well as a 12.5 percent pay rise for ground staff over a period of twelve months. The next round of negotiations is due to begin next Wednesday.
