Oliver Glasner: “Then I’m the wrong man”

Soccer coach Oliver Glasner believes his new club Crystal Palace can do more than just fight to stay in the Premier League. "I've said to the owners here that I'm not interested in just being in the league. I want to be successful - that's what drives me," the Upper Austrian told Sky TV. If the club wants that too, then it can be very exciting, "and if not, then I'm the wrong man". 

Glasner, who won the European Football League with Eintracht Frankfurt in 2022 and had been without a club since parting ways in the summer of 2023, signed a contract in South London in mid-February until the summer of 2026. He succeeds Roy Hodgson (76), who also stepped down from his position due to health problems. In the first game under Glasner's management, Crystal Palace celebrated a 3-0 win against promoted Burnley last weekend.

London derby
This Saturday, his team will face fifth-placed Tottenham Hotspur. Tottenham are a team that, alongside Liverpool, play the highest pressing in the league and defend incredibly aggressively going forward.

"We want to play courageously and have the confidence to repeatedly exploit these spaces in order to score goals and win the game," said Glasner, looking ahead to the match.
