Hunt for sex offenders: women attacked on Wienerberg
Excitement in the Wienerberg recreation area in Vienna-Favoriten: Three women are said to have been attacked there recently by an unknown man, touched in their private parts and dragged away. All the victims managed to escape. The police are currently searching at full speed for the perpetrator. It is suspected that the same man is involved in all three cases.
The attacks are believed to have taken place between January 29 and February 13. The victims are three women aged 25, 27 and 39. According to the police, all three victims were attacked on the Wienerberg, touched in their private parts and dragged off the footpath into a secluded area.
Victim (25) suffered cuts
There, the unknown man attempted to perform sexual acts on the women, the police reported on Wednesday. In two cases, the man also threatened the women with a knife. The 25-year-old victim suffered cuts on her hand. All three women managed to break away and flee.
Police assume serial offender
Based on the descriptions given by the victims, the Vienna Provincial Police Directorate is assuming a serial offender. The suspect is said to be around 30 to 40 years old and around 1.65 to 1.75 meters tall. He had a slim build, black hair, a dark beard and thick eyebrows. The victims also stated that the man was dressed rather darkly and was probably of Arab origin.
Recreation area under surveillance
The area around the Wienerberg is currently under increased surveillance by both civilian and uniformed forces. The investigation is in full swing. The task force is also hoping for information from the public (telephone number: 01-31310 DW 33800).
