Assisted living “is an important addition”

In Eugendorf, assisted living is to expand existing facilities and become an important facility for older citizens. A day center will also be built in the building. Construction will start as early as next month. 

Construction is due to start as early as next month: "The combination of assisted living with a day care center offers immense added value for the future residents of the house with care needs," Eugendorf Mayor Robert Bimminger (ÖVP) is certain. 24 barrier-free, subsidized apartments will be built on a vacant lot in the Santner housing estate near the town center.

The entire project is being built by the company Hillebrand, which has already realized several residential projects in the Flachgau municipality. Eveline Bayrhamer, head of the St. Martin retirement home in the center of the village and deputy mayor, sees the construction as extremely positive: "It is an addition to our existing services. Several components are necessary to ensure that our older citizens are well looked after." Just one retirement home would not be enough. An important gap between a retirement home, social assistance services, meals on wheels and care at home is thus closed.

It is still unclear whether the narrow access road will need to be adapted. "We are considering whether the bends can be widened, for example," explains Bimminger. This would make it easier to get out of the way.
