Dream goal not enough for Grünau to win

Wals-Grünau only drew 2-2 against Kufstein in the Westliga, with Christian Schnöll scoring a dream goal to take the lead. The disappointment after the game was nevertheless huge.

"The knot has to burst," said Wals-Grünau goal scorer Petrit Nika to the "Krone" before the Westliga match against Kufstein. In the match, he managed to break the deadlock with the very first action, with the Grünau team already leading after three minutes. "That's when the knot finally burst," grinned the Freilassinger.

After that, the game fell asleep a little and Kufstein equalized (25'). Before the break, Christian Schnöll was nominated for goal of the month. After a half-height cross, he finished directly with his heel and the ball went over the bar and into the goal. "Everything fell into place," said the 2:1 goalscorer. But he would have preferred the win. "It feels more like a defeat, we gave away the win." Because Gavric equalized in the 62nd minute. Team-mate Nika immediately agreed with Schnöll: "If you start the game like that, then you have to leave the pitch as the winner. It hurts."

The other Salzburg clubs want to do better than Grünauer. Austria play at Altach Juniors, St. Johann at home against Röthis and FC Pinzgau at Lauterach. However, top player Marinko Sorda is doubtful for the Violets, having picked up a groin injury in the final training session.
