Anger after European Championship exit: “He must be blacklisted!”

After the European Championship semi-final between England and the Netherlands (2:1), the focus is on referee Felix Zwayer. "He really must be blacklisted," demanded Oranje legend Pierre van Hooijdonk.

On Dutch TV station NOS, Van Hooijdonk is bursting at the seams: "The English can thank Felix Zwayer!" The German's performance was "terrible". The penalty scene in particular caused a stir: After a shot by Harry Kane, his instep crashed into the raised sole of Denzel Dumfries, Zwayer decided on a penalty after reviewing the TV images, which Kane safely converted.

"... and they fall for it"
 "No, I really don't think it's a penalty. It has no influence on Kane's action, on his shot," said Van Hooijdonk angrily. "Dumfries blocks past the ball. When you take a shot, you automatically pull through and then you hit a player." Kane had "the feeling that he's going to get hit, and with the VAR you stay on the ground because who knows ... and they fall for it."

His demand: Zwayer must be "blacklisted". "It's really terrible. These are moments that were decisive in this game," said Van Hooijdonk after the Netherlands' bitter European Championship exit.
