Oberwart also wins second Superliga final match

The Oberwart Gunners are one win away from winning the Austrian men's basketball championship. The team from Burgenland won match two of the "best of five" final series 72:67 (34:37) in the Superliga (BSL) on Monday; game three is scheduled for Thursday (6 p.m.) in Graz. The preliminary decision on Whit Monday in favor of the Styrian newcomers to the final came in the third quarter, when Oberwart improved on the rebound and in defense.

"We conceded too many easy buckets in the first half. It shouldn't have been so close," said Oberwart's Head Coach Horst Leitner, referring to the final spell, when the club from Graz got as close as three points. "It was a great performance from us and also from Graz," admitted Leitner. His opposite number Ervin Dragsic was optimistic that they could still turn the series around. "We're not giving up 100 percent. We just need a bit more concentration and have to score better in offense."

The best scorers in the game were Kris Monroe from Oberwart with 19 points and Jeremy Smith from Graz with 18.
