Practical clothing for diaper-free babies

The young Salzburg-based company "Mata Origin" wants to make it easy for babies to do without diapers with well-designed pants and rompers. 

Children are expensive. A child needs around 5000 diapers during the entire changing phase. This adds up to 2500 euros for Pampers and the like in a baby's lifetime. This not only puts a strain on the wallet, but also on the environment. Almost one million disposable diapers end up in the trash every day in Austria. A young Salzburg-based company wants to make it possible to use cloth diapers or even do without them altogether.

Magdalena Binder founded her company "Mata Origin" in 2021. Julia Wimmer and Clara Gernerth are now two other women on board. They offer well-designed pants that are quick and practical to open, merino wool diapers and rompers with all-round zippers via their online store. "I wanted fairly produced baby and children's clothing that makes changing diapers easy," says Binder, who has two small children herself.

The woman from Tennengau also wanted to promote diaper-free growing of children. Toddlers can quickly learn to stop wetting their diapers through so-called holding off. "You encourage the natural need and also have less waste as a side effect," says Binder. Cloth diapers are a preventative measure if something does go wrong. She also passes on her knowledge to parents in workshops and online courses, and the company and its website have already become a platform for the community.

The three entrepreneurs now want to take the next step with "Mata Origin" and enter the retail sector. That's why they went looking for investors on the Puls4 show "2 Minuten 2 Millionen". To be seen today, Tuesday, from 8.15 pm.
