Meeting postponed
AUA passengers face further flight cancellations
Austrian Airlines (AUA) is facing further flight cancellations and delays. The works council for on-board staff wants to reschedule the meeting, which was planned for this Friday, for next week. Previously, 150 flights had already been canceled on March 8.
According to the company, nothing more can be done to change the cancellation of the affected connections because they have already been removed from the system. It has now been announced that the canceled works meeting will be held next week. "We regret that there will be flight irregularities both this Friday and next week," says the circular from the works council.
According to AUA, the damage amounts to four million euros for next Friday alone, and any claims for damages are currently being evaluated. The company has already sued for injunctive relief. The court is to clarify on which days a works meeting may be held at all, whether there is a 16-day notice requirement and whether the duration of the meeting must be announced in advance.
We regret that there will be flight irregularities both this Friday and next week.

Cancellation due to lack of premises
As reported, no premises have been found for the meeting. The NH Hotel at Vienna Airport, which manages the meeting rooms, had informed the works council that the owner had to carry out "safety-related revision work" at short notice. The airport in turn emphasized that the airport was "very busy" and that a room for 600 people was therefore not available at the push of a button. Where the works council holds its meetings is also not a matter for Flughafen AG.
AUA management considers the meeting to be illegal and is therefore not renting any premises this time. The reason for the meetings is the faltering collective agreement negotiations. The union is demanding higher wages for pilots and flight attendants.
