In Peru, the police are also using original special operations in the fight against drug crime: In the capital Lima, a police officer convicted two female dealers on Tuesday with a supposed demonstration of love in a teddy bear costume (see video above).

In order to lure one of the drug dealers out of her house, an undercover officer dressed as a cuddly giant teddy bear went down on one knee in front of the woman's house with a heart-shaped balloon and a box of chocolates in his hands. He also had a sign with him on which was written: "Eres mi razon para sonreir" ("You are my reason to smile").

Giant teddy bear overwhelms surprised dealer
When the woman stepped outside the house, the romantic declaration of love and sentimentality came to an abrupt end: the surprised dealer was overpowered by the giant teddy bear and pushed to the ground before being arrested by other police officers who had been standing by in the background.

The drug raid was recorded on video. The video footage shows the police officers finding lots of drugs under a mattress and in a drainpipe outside the building and a second suspicious woman being taken away and put into a police car.

Hundreds of packets of drugs found
The investigators were able to seize hundreds of packets of cocaine and marijuana. The policeman in the bear costume also showed his heart at the police station and comforted one of the two women arrested, who was crying in despair, by hugging her.

Peru is one of the largest cocaine producers
According to the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), Peru is the world's second-largest coca leaf grower and, according to the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the second-largest cocaine producer in the world. The drug is mainly smuggled to the USA and Europe.
