How to protect your family from AI scams
Generative artificial intelligence makes many things easier—including for cybercriminals, who can use it to impersonate well-known individuals more easily than ever before in order to obtain data and, above all, money. For this reason, the FBI, among others, recommends that families use a simple but effective trick to protect themselves.

What they all have in common is that they take advantage of their victims’ good faith and shamelessly exploit it. The best-known example is the so-called “grandchild” or “nephew” scam, in which scammers pretend to be related to the target—either over the phone or via WhatsApp—to ask for or beg money in a supposed emergency.
