Demolition underway: Municipality works in replacement building

The municipal office in Gallizien, which was last renovated in the 1960s, is being demolished. The new home is being built by the company MID-Bau GmbH. The home, which will also house a local grocery store, should be completed by the fall at the latest. 

It has been a long road. We are glad that the excavators have moved in," says Mayor Hannes Mak. This week, MID-Bau GmbH began demolition work on the old municipal office, which was last renovated in the 1960s. The four employees moved into the premises of "Robert Wolte und Partner GmbH" in Wildenstein in the fall of last year.Mak: "We are perfectly accommodated."

Construction project was scaled back
The major construction project (3.3 million euros) for the new municipal office, which was originally supposed to be docked onto the Pfarrstadel, was halted in 2023. "The project was scaled back and will now be realized on a smaller scale," says the mayor.

A new building will be constructed, which will also include a local supermarket. The municipality will use the new office space there. According to MID-Bau, everything should be completed by the fall.

Local supplier will bring revitalization
What the model will look like for the municipality is still open. Mak: "We are still negotiating what form this marriage will take. The local council will vote. In any case, everyone is happy that a local supplier is integrated. This will bring life back to our town," says Mak.
