How homeless students can find a place to live

The housing shortage for students in the provincial capital is getting worse. As a solution, the ÖH Klagenfurt organized a "speed dating" event.

The students' union in Klagenfurt is tackling the issue of finding accommodation for students in a slightly different way: "The situation has become even more acute. There is currently an acute shortage of at least 250 places in halls of residence - for students at the University of Klagenfurt alone," warns the university once again.

There is a lack of private apartments as well as places in halls of residence: "The University of Klagenfurt is currently losing potential students every semester because they simply can't find accommodation," the educational institution says. The ÖH now wants to tackle the problem with a creative idea.

 "We didn't always just want to admonish, we also wanted to do something," says Chairwoman Lena Zachmann. And so the "WG Speed Dating" was born! On September 25 from 5 p.m., apartment seekers and flatmates looking for new flatmates can get to know each other in a cozy atmosphere in the ÖH living room in the Mensa building: "Maybe new flatmates will be found there - also through personal contact."
