LIVE: Stigger with top start in the battle for a medal

Olympia LIVE: Laura Stigger and Mona Mitterwallner are currently fighting for the medals on the cross-country course on the Colline d'Élancourt. Stigger got off to a great start, battling for the top 3 for a long time, but now seems to be gradually falling back.

Her second Olympic appearance should be more pleasing for mountain biker Laura Stigger than her debut. The Tyrolean, who failed to finish in Tokyo three years ago, is among the extended group of medal contenders today on the cross-country course on the Colline d'Élancourt after several top World Cup results. For her compatriot Mona Mitterwallner, however, it is likely to be a little more difficult after a season of health problems.

Mitterwallner has not yet hit the ground running this year. Two seventh places in the World Cup are not up to the ambitious marathon world champion's high standards.
