Queen Elizabeth is said to have loved it when things went wrong and caused a stir in the monotonous routine of protocol.

To the outside world, it always seemed as if the late British monarch was a big fan of court protocol. However, according to a former advisor, the Queen is said to have taken great pleasure when things didn't go according to plan for once.

"Spiced up her life"
Samantha Cohen, who worked for the Queen for 17 years as press secretary and later as deputy private secretary, told the Australian newspaper Herald Sun: "The Queen had no ego, she was so comfortable in her own skin. But she loved it when things went wrong. When a cake wasn't cut or a plaque wasn't unveiled, even though everything was so perfectly organized - it spiced up her life when things went wrong."

"Loved the work"
Cohen, nicknamed "Samantha Panther" by the Queen, saw the Queen almost every day before she left the royal household in 2019.

She even had her own bedroom at Windsor Castle and was invited to travel with her family to Balmoral and to Sandringham at Christmas.

"The Queen and I spoke a lot. I miss her, she was a special woman," she reveals. "I loved, loved, loved working as the Queen's Deputy Private Secretary. They were happy times."

Happy times, but apparently they did have a small flaw. Because Cohen worked briefly for Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan before she left.

As she confirmed to the Herald, she was one of ten employees interviewed by the palace after Harry and Meghan's communications secretary, Jason Knauf, filed a harassment complaint against the Duchess in 2018.
