The Giants are not afraid of the ex-league terror
The perfect start is set to continue. The footballers of the Thalheim Graz Giants got off to a flying start in the domestic AFL with three wins. On Saturday they continue at home against the Raiders from Tyrol. Fritz Bleckmann knows some of the opposing players from the U20 team and warns his colleagues.
"We can't complain so far, it's been a good start to the new season," says Fritz Bleckmann, rubbing his hands together. With three wins, he and his Graz Giants footballers got off to a perfect start. After a short break, they continue on Saturday against the Raiders.
"Young team with potential"
While the Tyroleans have almost spread fear and terror in the league in recent years, this has now changed somewhat due to the two-tier division with the European Football League. They have won one of their three games. "They're no longer the big scare in the domestic league, but we still shouldn't underestimate them," warns Bleckmann. Who knows some of his opponents' players better. "I'm in the U20 national team with some of them. The Raiders are a young team with potential."
But the Giants still have room for improvement, as the pass receiver himself knows. "Offensively, it's not quite what we expect yet. We haven't really got going yet and haven't put the points on the scoreboard in offense that we wanted to." However, the teamwork with neo-quarterback Nic Visser is working better from week to week. "The harmony is right. And it won't really count until the play-offs anyway." There is still a long way to go until then, but the team from Graz is right on track so far. The Raiders should also feel that.
