Season begins with hunt for princess trophy

While the majority of the Austrian national sailing team has already competed in regattas in 2024 with world or European championships, Vienna's top sailor Tanja Frank is now also starting the season in the Nacra 17 with Lukas Haberl off Palma de Mallorca. The traditional Trofeo Princesa Sofia regatta will be the first opportunity for the Rio Olympic bronze medalists to find out where they stand ahead of the Paris Games in the summer.

"We're ready to go," says Tanja, looking forward to the start. "In our class in particular, the regatta is an opportunity to see where we stand, because the event brings the different training groups together for the first time. Some of them were with us on Lanzarote, but a large number were also off Cagliari. We will see where we stand."

"We haven't done a regatta for almost five months now - but we've trained really hard. We didn't lose a day of sailing before Lanzarote and were able to complete our full workload. I am convinced that we have trained well. We'll see how well," adds Tanja's helmsman Lukas Haberl. The races start on Easter Monday, with the final races scheduled for Saturday, April 6.
