Second-highest storm warning for Tyrol until Monday morning
North Tyrol is still under the spell of the Föhn storm: the second-highest warning level "orange" is in force until Monday morning and the province is appealing to the population to be careful. The traditional Easter fires are not recommended.
According to GeoSphere Austria, gale-force gusts and wind peaks of 60 to 80 km/h are still to be expected in North Tyrol, with peaks of around 100 km/h in the typical Föhn valleys. Gusts of more than 120 km/h are to be expected on the mountains.
Astrid Mair, Provincial Councillor for Safety, appeals to the Tyrolean population to continue to exercise caution: "The Easter holidays invite you to go on excursions or undertake outdoor activities. However, people should avoid spending time in forests, avenues or parks due to the strong storms." The fire departments have been called out to around 110 incidents since Friday.
Even small sources of ignition can have dramatic consequences due to the partly dry ground and the storm.

Special caution required for Easter fires
Special caution is also required for Easter fires and they are best avoided, as Mair further emphasizes: "Even small ignition sources can have dramatic effects and lead to dangerous forest fires due to the sometimes dry ground and the storm." Due to the wind conditions, fires can spread relatively quickly, threatening large-scale fires.
Tree on house and roadblock
In North Tyrol, there was initial damage, which was initially minor: The strong gusts of wind uprooted trees and loosened stones in the area of Hechtseestraße, which is why the provincial road was temporarily closed after consultation with the provincial geology department. On Sunday morning, an assessment of the situation will be carried out by the provincial geology department and the responsible road maintenance department in Kufstein. It remains to be seen when the road can be reopened to traffic. In Innsbruck's Innerkoflerstraße, a tree fell onto a house, causing considerable damage. At Lake Achensee there was already a short-term power cut on Friday.
Ischgl concert has to be postponed
Due to the weather forecast and the current storm warning, the organizers in Ischgl, together with Nina Chuba's management, have decided to postpone the Top of the Mountain Easter Concert planned for Easter Sunday to Easter Monday (1 pm) for safety reasons. Tickets remain valid, please exchange online tickets at the box office.
