Road closures are fixed
Another hot summer of roadworks awaits Wels residents
Last year, many construction sites in the city drove the people of Wels up the wall. This year, too, there will be a lot of building work and investment in district heating. The city, together with EWW, has now moved out earlier than ever before to inform the population about the projects and the associated closures.
A few days after the start of spring, the city of Wels and the EWW Group present the plans for the summer of construction work: "So that the people of Wels can prepare themselves in good time," is the message from both sides. The city's most important project is the Wels-Schleißheim pedestrian and cycle bridge, costing a total of 4.5 million euros. Construction is expected to start in the third quarter and the R4 Traun cycle path may be temporarily closed during the construction period.
Construction sites are essential. The expansion of cycle paths, the expansion of district heating and the maintenance of roads are important for a sustainable and efficient urban infrastructure.

Rosenauerstrasse needs to be rerouted for the development of the planned exhibition hall 22. The city is investing around 900,000 euros here. The implementation, including the temporary closure of the existing Rosenauerstrasse, is planned for the summer months of July and August.
The announced passability of Roseggerstraße in both directions, at least for cyclists, is to follow in August and September with the construction of the cycle path. Temporary road closures are also necessary for this investment of 400,000 euros.
I understand the resentment about closures and obstructions. It is therefore important that we coordinate with the EWW Group in the best possible way to keep restrictions to a minimum.

The fine asphalting including temporary closures of the streets (Holterstraße, Eiselsbergstraße, Leopold-Bauer-Straße and Camillo-Schulz-Straße) in Vogelweide has also been announced for June and July. The investment here amounts to around EUR 0.2 million.
The EWW Group is using the summer months to expand the district heating in Dickerldorf, Wallererstraße and Plobergerstraße/Freiung. The Schafwiesen substation will be built in Schafwiesen.
