Toni Polster is also taking part in this year’s “Losradeln” event
With a stamp pass for 15 euros, you can cycle, feast and taste wines to your heart's content in the Eisenstadt-Umgebung district on April 6 and 7. Even prominent cyclists won't be asked twice.
Over 650 cycling enthusiasts from Vienna, Lower Austria, Styria and Burgenland took part in the premiere of "Losradeln" last year. The successful event is part of the nationwide "Anradeln" campaign and was initiated by restaurateur and hotelier Michael Wlaschits from Klingenbach in cooperation with the Northern Burgenland Tourism Association.
The event will take place for the second time on April 6 and 7 (start: 9 am). This time, the organizers even want to break the 1000 mark in terms of the number of participants.
Pleasure and music
The 46-kilometre route once again stretches from Klingenbach across the Pannonian Puszta to Siegendorf and St. Margarethen, Mörbisch, Rust, Oslip, Oggau and Trausdorf, with each participating municipality being both start and finish. Local innkeepers and clubs serve regional delicacies and fine wines at gourmet stations to keep the pedal riders fed throughout the day.
"In our wine tavern, for example, we will be serving Krautfleckerl, Grenadiermarsch ravioli and pork cheeks. In Siegendorf, you can sample dozens of types of Leberkäss at the Rohrer. In St. Margarethen, Hannes Steffanits from Stoffi's BBQ prepares barbecue specialties. And in Oslip, you can fortify yourself in the taverns and bars of the Csello Mill," says Wlaschits, who has already been able to make some room reservations for the two-day event.
Great prizes as a reward
The eight refreshment stations will also provide a feast for the ears - with tambourine groups, jazz bands and solo entertainers. It's definitely worth taking part, as a stamped passport automatically enters you into the prize draw.
This year, in addition to an electric mountain bike from KTM worth 5,500 euros, 300 bottles of bottled wine and a barrique barrel, a weekend for two at the four-star superior Hotel Galántha including wine tasting awaits the three winners.
