Crash in Obdach
Accident victim (35) hit by another vehicle
A terrible accident caused two serious injuries in Obdach (Styria) at 4.30 a.m. on Sunday. After a head-on collision, a driver (35) was hit by a third vehicle and thrown through the air.
The police have not yet been able to clarify why a 37-year-old Romanian and a 35-year-old from Murtal collided head-on on the B 78 in Obdach at 4.30 a.m. on Sunday. One thing is certain: The 37-year-old's car overturned and he was seriously injured and trapped in a vehicle. The 35-year-old was able to free himself from his car and wanted to rush to the other vehicle.
But that's when it happened: a 62-year-old man from Wolfsberg probably saw the vehicle involved in the accident too late. He tried to steer away at the last moment, dragging the 35-year-old man with him. The 35-year-old was hit by the car, thrown through the air and came to rest on the road.
Driver provided first aid
It was the Carinthian who finally made the emergency call and administered first aid. A large contingent of rescue workers arrived: The fire department had to cut the unconscious Romanian out of the car and the helicopter flew him to Graz University Hospital. An emergency doctor treated the 35-year-old, who was taken to Judenburg Regional Hospital.
A total of 69 firefighters from the Obdach, Reichenfels, Bad St. Leonhard and Wisperndorf volunteer fire departments, the Red Cross with an emergency doctor, several paramedics and a crew from the Christophorus 17 rescue helicopter were deployed to the scene of the accident. The B 78 had to be closed to all traffic from 4.50 am to 7.30 am.
