The machine manufacturer achieved a whopping 691.5 million euros in turnover in the 2023 financial year, an increase of 30 percent compared to the previous year. The most important sales market is North America, but more and more orders are also being landed in the Middle East.

Despite the prolonged slump in the construction industry, the Nenzing-based crane and machinery manufacturer managed the feat of achieving record sales in the past 2023 financial year. The main reason for this is the company's international focus: investments are being made in various infrastructure projects around the world - especially those related to energy supply.

As far as the market is concerned, North America is still number one, with the USA and Canada accounting for 45% of sales, well ahead of the core market of Europe. The Middle East region is becoming increasingly important. While order intake in 2023 was at a high level but below the record level of 2022, orders fluttered in from Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates in particular.

In terms of products, crawler cranes are particularly in demand. Compared to the previous year, 56 percent more turnover was achieved in this business segment. Special civil engineering machines (+39 percent) were also in demand worldwide. The figures for duty cycle crawler cranes remained relatively constant (+2 percent).

Business with "zero-emission machines" is also going well - the electrically powered "Unplugged" product series has established itself as a sustainable customer solution since its market launch. Demand for the latest appliance is particularly high in Scandinavia, North America and Canada.

Despite numerous challenges (slower economic growth, price and interest rate developments and difficulties within the supply chains), the Liebherr Managing Directors expect positive development in 2024. The current order backlog is at a good level.
