"Excalibur City"
A turning point for the Seunigs, including a name change
It's all about the "family silver", if you like: the legendary "Excalibur City" on the Austro-Czech border is soon to become "Family City". Roger Seunig wants to lead the area that his father Ronnie once built up into the next era with a new name. Why his dad doesn't quite like it.
There is no denying that "Excalibur City" on the Austrian-Czech border is a real success story. It was founded in the early 1990s by top entrepreneur Ronnie Seunig, who recently handed over the reins to his son Roger. For some time now, he has been the master of the 200,000m² site, which is home to a shopping center and amusement park.
Attraction for families
Dad Seunig retired to Australia and, as mentioned, is letting his son Roger run the show. And he does, as he told the "Krone". "We want to offer a swimming lake in 'Merlin's Camp' this year, some new attractions are being added to the children's world, and the facades and outdoor areas are being redesigned," he says about the redesign of the facilities. And he drops the bombshell: "As part of this, we are changing the name from 'Excalibur City' to 'Family City'." Rumms . . .
Ronnie Seunig is "not amused"
What does dad Ron say: "(...) However, I don't see much point in such a change, even if there are some arguments in favor of it. Excalibur City' is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. The name is familiar to almost everyone in the Lower Austria and Vienna area. Changing it is risky, and that's why I'm in favor of keeping it." But his son has a master plan: "We want to set an example that does justice to the transformation from a duty-free paradise to a family destination. We want to reach customers who have not noticed this new form of offer. (...) The transformation should be completed by mid-April."
Same effect with the old name
There is a consensus among the Seunigs on this. The but comes from Ronnie Seunig: "But it also works under 'Excalibur City'." To be continued . . .
