Behind the wheel with ski boots: Dane causes accident
A drunk driver with ski boots behind the wheel caused an accident with material damage in Wagrain in Salzburg's Pongau region on Sunday night. The Dane hit a construction fence and a car with his car and then drove on without stopping.
A witness informed the police and stated that the man had been driving in ski boots. According to the police, the Dane had a blood alcohol level of just over two per mille, and officers confiscated his driver's license.
Car overturned - drunk driver loses license
There was also a crash involving a drunk driver in St. Johann im Pongau on Sunday night. A 42-year-old man drove his vehicle onto the verge of the Grossarl country road, causing the car to overturn and come to rest on the road. The driver was injured and taken to Schwarzach Hospital by the ambulance. He had 1.5 per mille alcohol in his blood. Police officers confiscated his driver's license and the man was reported to the police.
Drugs, brass knuckles, no license sticker
In Salzburg-Maxglan, police officers stopped a 25-year-old man in his car in Rochusgasse shortly before 22:00. There was a strong smell of cannabis in the vehicle. The driver stated that he had just smoked a joint. The police found 200 grams of herbal cannabis, a joint and a knuckleduster in the vehicle. The police seized the items. The medical officer determined that the driver was unfit to drive due to cannabis and cocaine in the urine. In addition, the sticker on the vehicle had expired and the man from Salzburg did not have a driver's license. Charges followed.
A short time later, officers also stopped two drunk drivers in Rochusgasse with alcohol levels of 1.2 and 1.48 per mille. The police confiscated the drivers' licenses and reported them to the police. A 53-year-old man was also reported for driving his car in Bad Hofgastein im Pongau on Saturday evening with a blood alcohol level of 1.38 per mille and no license plates on the vehicle. The Hungarian also does not have a driver's license.
