Huge heart from readers for Jonathan after accident

A teenager's serious accident triggered a wave of willingness to help. After his TV Christmas show, Rapid announcer legend Andy Marek also donated to the "Krone-hilft" campaign. Every additional donation for the family counts, they have an immense burden to bear.

It will soon be the anniversary of the accident that fundamentally changed the family of Manuela Haas and Christian Floh from Dorf Rosenau in the Zwettl district: on January 24, their son Jonathan took a leap onto the banister of the stairs in his home in his carefree, youthful manner. He tried to slide down the handrail, lost his balance and fell more than five meters - the "Krone" reported.

Bus rebuilt, lift being installed
The 17-year-old was recently discharged from a specialist clinic for early rehabilitation in Salzburg and returned to his parents' care. The family bought a bus to transport him to his many therapies, some of which they had to pay for themselves, and had it converted.

In addition, the family's house, which is built into the hillside, had to be retrofitted with a lift over several floors. The technical work alone was estimated at around 200,000 euros. This does not include any necessary therapies or care equipment such as a special bed.

Huge wave of people helps
Since the "Krone" article, a "huge wave of willingness to help has been triggered in the Waldviertel", report the parents, full of thanks to countless donors. Now Rapid's legendary speaker Andy Marek has also joined the "Krone helps Jonathan" campaign with 3000 euros. He was able to raise 13,500 euros for a good cause with his Christmas gala, which was broadcast on TV, and wants to use it to support some of those in need.

The "Krone readers help Lower Austria for Jonathan" campaign is still running. "The hearts of our readers are huge. Please continue to donate to this family in need," appeals "Krone" Lower Austria editorial manager Lukas Lusetzky.
