Wet roads claim four victims in Tyrol

Emergency services had to respond to four motorcycle accidents in the Tyrolean Oberland on Saturday. In most cases, the wet roads were the cause of the crashes. Three men and one woman were taken to Zams district hospital.

The first accident occurred on Saturday at around 12.30 pm in Pfunds, where a Dutchman (64) skidded off a bend on the B180 Reschenstraße. His motorcycle hit the guardrail and was then thrown back onto the road, where the 64-year-old lay seriously injured.

Two hours later, there was a crash very close by, this time on Martinsbruckerstraße (B185) in Nauders. A German biker (60) from Upper Franconia skidded, crashed and injured himself so badly that he had to be flown to Zams hospital by emergency helicopter. 

A German citizen of the same age was injured almost at the same time in Stams in the Imst district when his motorcycle skidded in a traffic circle and crashed into a traffic sign.

French woman was thrown down an embankment
The last accident occurred at around 4.20 p.m. in See (Landeck district). There, a 60-year-old female motorcyclist veered into the opposite lane on a right-hand bend and crashed into a crash barrier. The French woman was thrown from her bike and then fell around three meters over a steep embankment, where she lay injured in rough terrain. Like the other three accident victims, she was taken to Zams Hospital after receiving first aid.
