The Waldviertler Bad Traunstein starts the season with a joint hike. A "morning stage" of the 260-kilometre-long path of life, which combines a breathtaking natural landscape with numerous sights, will be covered.

The start of the hiking season will be heralded on Whit Monday, 20 May, at the parking lot of the Bad Traunstein herb garden in the Waldviertel: the 14-kilometre stage 9 of the "50-60 years - harvest / the new freedom" life trail to the Martinsberg Astronomical Center in Oed will start there at 9 am.

Highlights of the nature stage
Special sights along the route include the Wachtstein and the outdoor living room, the Franzosenstein, the Wiegenstein, the source of the Große Krems and the visit to the observatory from around 1 pm. In 2018, the former Bühnenwirtshaus restaurateur Dieter Juster initiated the 260-kilometre-long life trail. The long-distance hiking route makes a figure-eight loop and leads through 23 municipalities - you should be able to hike through 13 stages and stations of human life in around 14 days.

"Not a walk in the park"
The Lebensweg connects the Ysper-Weitental circular hiking trail 22 and the Kremstalweg 625. "It really isn't a walk in the park," says Juster. "As is the case in life, there are also challenges to overcome: A total of 6,038 meters in altitude and some pretty sporty ascents and descents."
