Can: “We can shut up now”
Borussia Dortmund have silenced their critics by reaching the Champions League final. After the 1:0 win against Paris Saint-Germain, captain Emre Can had a clear message for all those who had predicted an early exit for Dortmund. "They can shut up now," said the 30-year-old.
"I'm extremely proud of the team and our performance. I don't think anyone believed in us after the second matchday, to be honest. We had one point, but we believed in ourselves - that was the most important thing," explained Can in the mixed zone at the Parc de Princes.
Does he feel satisfaction after all the criticism this season? "One hundred percent! I can say that openly: they (critics, ed.) can shut up now. We're in the final now - and rightly so."
False start in the premier class
As a reminder: BVB had started the Champions League season with a 2-0 defeat against PSG of all teams. After the subsequent 0-0 draw against AC Milan, the chances of reaching the knockout phase did not seem great - especially as Dortmund had to play in the "group of death".
