“Burgenland Taxis” now travel across state borders

The expansion into the two municipalities of the neighboring federal states marks another milestone in the mobility service. In cooperation with the municipalities of Fürstenfeld and Kirchschlag, BAST will be extended from May 2.

With this expansion, the aim is to create a new service, especially for residents of the border communities, to make use of shopping facilities or medical services across the border, says VBB Managing Director Wolfgang Werderits. In Fürstenfeld, the service will run to the train station, medical center and Oststeiermark State Hospital (LKH). This not only makes it possible to use the wide range of medical services, but also provides a train connection to Wiener Neustadt, Fehring, Graz and Vienna railroad stations.

Expansion also an advantage for tourists
The expansion is therefore not only a great advantage for commuters and the older generation, but also benefits tourism in southern Burgenland. BAST journeys from Fürstenfeld can also be used as a connection to the VBB route network in Burgenland.

Connection to the municipality of Kirchschlag in der Buckligen Welt 
Residents of the large municipality of Pilgersdorf and Rabnitztal can look forward to an extension to the Lower Austrian municipality of Kirchschlag. The public bus stop "Kirchschlag/Bucklige Welt Gemeindeamt" will be served by the BAST in future. "Kirchschlag is a popular shopping and leisure destination for the population of the Rabnitz Valley and the greater Pilgersdorf area. The constant expansion of transport services is also increasing the population's interest in using the available options in their everyday lives," says Regional Transport Councillor Heinrich Dorner.
