One person injured in an accident involving several vehicles

An accident involving several vehicles occurred on Thursday afternoon in the roadworks area in the Hiefler Tunnel on the Tauernautobahn. A 54-year-old man from Pongau was injured.

A serious traffic accident occurred on the Tauernautobahn (A10) towards Villach on Thursday afternoon. A traffic jam in the Hiefler tunnel meant that three drivers were able to brake in time. However, a 36-year-old driver from Pinzgau was unable to stop in time and caused a collision with three other vehicles.

A 54-year-old driver from Pongau was injured and had to be taken to hospital by rescue helicopter. Two of the drivers involved tested positive for alcohol, with values of 1.38 and 1.32 per mille. Their driving licenses were confiscated.

The A10 had to be closed in both directions while the accident was being investigated, which led to considerable traffic obstructions
