"Disgusting" virus
Christina Applegate: “I have to wear diapers”
Christina Applegate (52) has spoken openly about a particularly unpleasant illness. The actress revealed that she had contracted the sapovirus - a nasty virus that is often transmitted through fecal-oral contact. A take-away salad was probably to blame.
Christina Applegate spoke to co-host Jamie-Lynn Sigler (42) about an unpleasant illness in the latest edition of her MeSsy podcast entitled "Can I Be Honest?" on Tuesday.
Applegate infected with sapovirus
The "Dead to Me" actress said she was dizzy and nauseous, had no appetite and was unable to do anything when she fell ill.
Applegate said a stool sample test she underwent led to a diagnosis of sapovirus, which typically clears up within a week, with symptoms including vomiting and diarrhea.
"This is where it gets disgusting: I woke up at 3am in a varnish full of shit. I didn't know it happened, and having MS at 3am and trying to change the sheets is not fun."
"But that brings me to my next point we can talk about: I wear diapers," she revealed. Applegate shared that has been suffering from the virus for almost three weeks. She attributed the illness to a takeaway salad from a restaurant she has been visiting for 15 years.
Actress also had corona
But that's not all: Applegate also had corona. According to the actress, the health ordeal began a few weeks ago when someone "very close" to her brought home Covid-19, which led to her contracting the virus for the first time.
With her immune system already weakened due to multiple sclerosis, the 52-year-old began experiencing more severe symptoms, including a chest infection and accelerated heartbeat. "I was so dizzy," she recalled in the podcast. "I was so sick. I couldn't eat anything. I couldn't do anything."
