100,000 euro project
Domquartier snaps up Red Bull’s graphic designer
What do the Domquartier and Red Bull have in common? At first glance, very little. At second glance, however, it becomes clear that the Domquartier takes its mission to communicate its content digitally in a contemporary way just as seriously as the global corporation.
On Thursday, the Domquartier presented Salzburg's architectural history as an elaborately designed 3D graphic film. It was created by Walter Fritsch and his team, who are also responsible for Red Bull's digital presence.
The Domquartier has spent a lot of money on this hip mediation offer. It was supported with 100,000 euros from the state of Salzburg and 3000 euros from the Salzburg Chamber of Commerce.
Eight people have worked on the project over the past three years. The digitally animated video presentation illustrates the development of the baroque center of Salzburg from 1553 onwards, based on historical records. "The technical implementation also allows for corrections and extensions in the future to reflect new research findings," explains Domquartier director Andrea Stockhammer.
There are also plans to make some improvements to the presentation area in the cathedral arch: The light coming in through the windows currently still impairs the view of the detailed goings-on in the animated graphics. "First and foremost, we thought the square was excellent because you can see the cathedral square from here and directly compare what is shown in the graphic," says Stockhammer.
