Sweeney “is ugly & can’t act”
Hollywood producer Carol Baum denied the actress any talent in an interview. She would only work with Sydney Sweeney on one condition. The actress has now defended herself against the disparaging comments.
Hardly any other actress is currently the subject of as much discussion as 26-year-old Sydney Sweeney. Now Hollywood's top producer Carol Baum has also spoken out about the "Euphoria" star. "She's not pretty and can't act", Baum scolded the 26-year-old in an interview with the "New York Times".
Sweeney's movie "was almost unbearable"
The producer recently wanted to find out why the young actress is so popular at the moment. During a flight, Baum therefore watched the romantic comedy "Where the Lie Falls" starring Sweeney. The movie was almost unbearable.
Baum teaches at the USC School of Cenematic Arts in Los Angeles and asked her class why Sweeney was one of the most sought-after actresses in the world. "No one had an answer," Baum told the New York Times.
Cooperation only on one condition
However, someone from the class then asked back: "If you got your film project financed because Sweeney was in it - would you work with her?" Baum wrestled with himself for a moment, but then said yes. "Who turns down funding for a film project? At least no one I know. After all, my job is to produce films."
"It's shameful"
Sydney Sweeney has now defended herself against the disparaging comments made by the Hollywood producer. "How sad that a woman who is in a position to share her expertise and experience chooses instead to attack another woman," a representative for the actress said, in a statement to People.
"If this is what she has learned in her decades in the industry and what she feels is appropriate to teach her students, then this is shameful. To unjustifiably berate a producer friend of hers speaks volumes about Ms. Baum's character."
Sweeny recently produced and starred in the box office hit "Where the Lie Falls" and the horror film "Immaculate."
