Enthusiastic about the final
Legend Dieter Kalt backs the Red Jackets
Klagenfurt ice hockey legend Dieter Kalt junior once played for the KAC and Salzburg. He has been enthusiastic about the final duel so far and believes in the Red Jackets in the title race thanks to their individual class. Kalt would be particularly pleased for the coaching duo of Furey and Fischer. Ex-VSV coach Rodman probably has a new job.
A KAC and Salzburg legend! Klagenfurt's Dieter Kalt jun. definitely is. As a player, he won the championship twice with the Red Jackets and twice with the Bulls. He spent a total of four years in the city of Mozart and was once brought in by Didi Mateschitz himself to lead the team when it was founded. He was also the first Bulls captain.
"Incredibly attractive series"
Of course Dieter is now following this year's final of his two former teams. And is thrilled. "It really is an incredibly attractive series," explains the 49-year-old. "It's really great to watch. I've seen every match."
"KAC has more top players!"
And Dieter "Eis-Kalt", as he used to be called, has a favorite: "Salzburg plays with a lot of heart and passion. Klagenfurt has accepted the fight. But the KAC has more individual class. It will be ahead in the end because it has more top players who can single-handedly decide a match." The 49-year-old knows exactly how to become a champion: as a player, he won five titles in the top domestic league, two in the German DEL and one in Sweden with Färjestad. In 2012/13, Dieter was involved in the Red Jackets' championship as assistant coach.
Professionally involved in coaching
And then Dieter lets us in on the inside story. "To be honest, I sincerely wish the KAC players and especially the coaching team the title. I really like them all. I'm extremely happy for the coaches Kirk Furey and Dave Fischer. They have worked their way up and can now reap the rewards. They are doing a top job," enthuses Kalt, who is currently building up a coaching business and gives motivational talks for companies and at events - his topics: what makes teams strong and successful.
