Enormous damage: Roof truss went up in flames

Siren alarm Friday morning in Wiener Neustadt! A roof truss was fully engulfed in flames and called out the emergency services. At the same time, the Florianis were also alerted to a car fire. Meanwhile, a parked car rolled into another car on the ÖBB parking deck.  

In the early hours of the morning, the Wiener Neustadt volunteer fire department was alerted to a roof truss fire. The flames were even visible from the highway and from the train. When the fire department arrived, smoke was billowing from every corner of the roof. "We immediately began a comprehensive attack on the building in Siglgasse using the turntable ladder and a breathing apparatus unit to attack the interior," explains Christian Pfeiffer, head of operations and Wiener Neustadt's fire department commander. The Florianis quickly opened the roof cladding and fought the flames.

High property damage 
The damage was nevertheless extensive, explains the experienced commander: "The fire must have been making its way under the roof for some time." His recommendation: install smoke alarms. Because alerting the fire department at an early stage would prevent such devastating fires.  

Car fire quickly extinguished
The Florianis had previously been alerted to a car fire. This turned out to be a fire involving household goods. The firefighters quickly had the flames under control. "A volunteer fire department is called out to two locations at the same time with potential breathing protection. Fortunately, the scenes were only a minute apart," says Pfeiffer. 

Vehicle rolled into a parked car
The helpers mastered another operation in the early hours of the morning. A parked car in the ÖBB parking deck had rolled into another car. 

Shortly after 8 a.m., the majority of the team was able to return to the fire station. An eventful morning for the volunteers!
