Five injured in rear-end collision in Saalfelden

There was a crash on the B311 north of Saalfelden on Monday evening. A rear-end collision occurred during a turning maneuver, resulting in five people being injured, some of them seriously. 

A 33-year-old woman was driving from Weißbach on the B311 towards Saalfelden on Monday evening. At Saalfelden-Mayrhofen, the local driver had to stop for traffic reasons. As a result, a 55-year-old man from Pongau crashed his car into the rear of the car. The Pongau man's vehicle was thrown against the car of a 28-year-old man from Salzburg by the force of the impact.

The local woman and her children (two and four years old) suffered undetermined injuries in the accident and were taken to hospital in St. Johann in Tirol by ambulance. The seriously injured man from Pongau was taken to Schwarzach Hospital by an emergency helicopter. The injured man from Salzburg was taken to the Tauernklinikum Zell am See by ambulance.

The B311 was completely closed for an hour for the clean-up work. A breathalyzer test showed that the woman from Pinzgau and the man from Salzburg were not under the influence of alcohol. It was not possible to test the Pongau man for alcohol due to his injuries.
