Double the speed limit
Children in the back seat: speeders get rid of cars in Tyrol
The police caught two speeding drivers in Rum near Innsbruck on Easter Sunday who were driving far too fast in a 60 km/h zone. The two Bulgarians have now not only lost their driving licenses, but also their cars.
The two cars were noticed by the police on Sunday afternoon as part of traffic monitoring measures on Tiroler Straße in the municipality of Rum. After deducting the measurement tolerance, the two were speeding at 125 km/h on a section of the main road where a 60 km/h speed limit applies.
The Bulgarians, aged 34 and 26, each had an adult passenger in their cars and a child (aged 8 and 13) in the back seat of each car.
Driving license and car gone for the time being
The police officers confiscated the drivers' licenses on the spot. Their cars were also provisionally confiscated. They must be prepared to face charges at the Innsbruck police station.
