Intoxicated Good Friday
Accident farmer (53) on tractor had 2.92 per mille
A 53-year-old man and a 71-year-old woman got behind the wheel in Regau and Eferding on Friday while intoxicated. The farmer and the pensioner were apparently so intoxicated by midday that they caused accidents with their vehicles. While the farmer at least then stopped driving, the senior citizen also committed a hit-and-run.
The 53-year-old farmer from Regau was driving his tractor and trailer on the Schörflinger Straße in his home municipality on Friday afternoon. In the Himmelreich district, he lost control of his vehicle and skidded onto the verge. As a result, the trailer tipped over.
It was no longer possible to continue the journey. The alcohol test carried out during the accident investigation astonished the police: the farmer was dead drunk, with a blood alcohol level of 2.92 per mille. The man's driver's license was confiscated.
Senior citizen transporting four-year-old granddaughter
A very drunk 71-year-old woman from Eferding was also taken off the road on Friday afternoon. The woman had damaged a traffic sign while reversing into a one-way street in her home town. She got out and inspected the damage, but then got back into the car and fled the scene of the accident.
However, witnesses had observed the incident. They alerted the police and gave them the license plate number of the woman involved in the accident. The woman was stopped shortly afterwards in Eferding. A breathalyzer test revealed that she had 1.32 per mille. What was particularly disgusting about the incident was that the drunk woman was also transporting her four-year-old granddaughter in the car.
The lady had to hand in her car keys and driving license on the spot and was reported to the police. The penalties are likely to be hefty.
