15-year-old victim
Assault with a knife because of a Gucci cap
A 15-year-old boy was threatened with a knife by a teenager at Linz Central Station on Thursday morning because of his Gucci cap. The perpetrator was arrested a short time later by police officers with the cap and only partially confessed during interrogation.
The 15-year-old victim from Traun had a Gucci cap ripped off his head by an initially unknown person. When the boy demanded his headgear back, the thief threatened him with a folding knife and left the scene in the direction of a restaurant at the station. There the 15-year-old boy met the stranger again and demanded his cap back.
Only partially confessed
He again held the knife to his stomach and threatened him. Only a few moments later, the suspect, an 18-year-old Romanian from Linz, was arrested by the police patrols. During his interrogation, he only partially confessed. He was given a temporary weapons ban and was taken to Linz prison by order of the public prosecutor's office.
"More action necessary"
State Police Director Andreas Pilsl commented: "This case shows once again how important the current discussion about a general ban on weapons in public is. Teenagers and young adults are increasingly resorting to weapons and especially knives to commit serious crimes. I therefore believe that a legal framework that gives us as the police more powers is absolutely essential."
