Wildcats ace retires
Tears of farewell: Holzer leaves with fifth place
Over, out, over. Carinthia's volleyball ace Kathi Holzer is drawing a line under her career. After winning the championship title in France, she returned to Carinthia, where she played for the Wildcats in the previous season.
In July 2021, volleyball ace Kathi Holzer (champion with Cannes in France!) ended her career after winning the title with Linz. But this season, the 25-year-old returned to youth club ATSC Klagenfurt and was a mainstay. Now her career is finally coming to an end. "I only returned because I didn't have a partner for beach volleyball. It's hard to combine work and top-class sport. I'm too ambitious and can't play at my best," says Holzer.
Tears flowed down her face on Saturday after finishing fifth against Salzburg: "It was a great time with the girls. There was more than fifth place possible." Now it's off to the world of work: in July she has her bachelor's exam in biomedical analysis, and from November she will be working at the hospital.
