Bayern already in talks with coach candidate
FC Bayern is actively searching for a successor to coach Thomas Tuchel. According to the German newspaper "Bild", sporting director Max Eberl is said to have already held initial talks with Roberto de Zerbi.
The Italian is currently under contract with Brighton & Hove Albion and, alongside Xabi Alonso, is one of the top contenders for the coaching position at the Allianz Arena, which will become vacant in the summer. According to the English "Telegraph", De Zerbi, whose contract in the south of England expires in 2026, is said to have an exit clause of 14 million euros in his contract.
Competition from England and Spain
In initial talks, Eberl is said to have conveyed a fundamental interest in signing the 44-year-old, but with FC Barcelona, Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea, Munich are not the only club with De Zerbi on their list.
The contact with the Brighton coach is by no means the end of the search. "There is no plan A, B or C at the moment," Eberl explained recently. "We are screening the situation: What does the squad look like, what DNA does the club have, what history? We are thinking carefully: Which coaches fit in with what we have? To what this club radiates and wants to achieve?" The only thing that is clear so far is that Tuchel does not fit in with what the club has in mind and will be packing his bags after the season ...
