National Council election
Heike Eder to replace long-term candidate Kopf
On Thursday evening, the ÖVP's responsible parties finalized three lists. Heike Ender will head the list for the South constituency in the National Council elections in the fall. In addition, two further district lists (Feldkirch and Bludenz) have been drawn up. Unsurprisingly, party leader Markus Wallner heads both lists.
The ÖVP had already chosen Norbert Sieber as the top candidate in the North con stituency on Wednesday. On Thursday, the Black Party agreed that Federal Councillor Heike Ender from Zwischenwasser should head the list in the South constituency. She could thus succeed Karlheinz Kopf, who has been a candidate in Altach for many years. Behind Heike Eder, farmer Andreas Bitschnau is standing for election.
There were few surprises on the district lists for the regional elections. Governor and party leader Markus Wallner came first, as he did in the districts of Bregenz and Dornbirn. In the district of Bludenz, state councillor Christian Gantner and state parliament vice president Monika Vonier are also running. Behind them, Andrea Schwarzmann and Harald Witwer are running again to enter the provincial parliament.
In the Feldkirch district, Wallner is followed by other well-known faces in the form of state governor Barbara Schöbi-Fink, president of the state parliament Harald Sonderegger and member of the state parliament Clemens Ender. In fifth and sixth place are Deputy Mayor Gerda Schnetzer-Sutterlüty from Sulz and Feldkirch City Councillor Wolfgang Flach, two candidates who have previously only been active at regional level.
