Ski athlete rages: “I can no longer remain silent”

Fierce attack on the FIS! Belgian slalom specialist Armand Marchant has publicly criticized the numerous race cancellations this season. "I can no longer remain silent," the 26-year-old wrote on his social media channels.

"I'm not one of those athletes who often speak out. But I can't keep quiet any longer," he begins his post. "Three slalom races have been canceled, almost a third of the races in this discipline this season. The first race was cancelled on December 10 and it's now early March, but again they say the FIS hasn't found time to replace them, which sounds strange as slalom is not the most difficult discipline in terms of organization."

"A big joke"
Marchant continues: "It's a big joke to invest all your time, money, energy and much more to see the FIS give up. It seems that ski racing is no longer their great passion. It's difficult for me to see such a beautiful sport going in such a wrong direction."

Harsh words from the athlete, who was the first Belgian to make it into the top 5 in a World Cup race in Zagreb in 2020. In his criticism, he also thinks about the fans of the World Cup and asks himself: "How can fans continue to watch and be interested if only three of twelve canceled races are rescheduled ..."
