Almost eleven months ago, the body of a Czech man was discovered in a gravel pit in Schönkirchen-Reyersdorf (district of Gänserndorf in Lower Austria). Part of the mystery - concerning suspicious excavation work near the place where the body was found - has now been solved, but even this has not brought the CID investigators any further ...

The suspicious observations of the woman in the "Fuchsenwald" forest at the end of Gänserndorf-Süd date back to February 24, 2023. On Tuesday, the provincial police directorate issued a public request for information, as a connection with the case could not be ruled out.

Now - following several tips received and investigations by the Lower Austrian State Office of Criminal Investigation - it is clear that there is no connection with the discovery of the body. According to police reports on Wednesday, it was young people who had dug the pit. The "facts of the case have been clarified", was the brief statement - no further details were given.

But what happened to Radek B.?
The deceased was discovered on March 30, 2023 on a company site in Schönkirchen-Reyersdorf. Because the discovery situation was questionable, the State Office of Criminal Investigation took over the investigation. The Korneuburg public prosecutor's office ordered an autopsy of the body. In cooperation with Czech police authorities, it was possible to identify the man as Radek B. According to the Lower Austria Provincial Police Directorate, a relative had already filed a missing person's report with the Brno (Brünn) criminal investigation department on January 10 last year.

Radek B. was found dead in the gravel pit in Schönkirchen-Reyersdorf on March 30. Investigators assume that the body was simply dumped there.

National and international investigations revealed that Radek B. had presumably traveled by train from the Czech Republic via Slovakia to Austria four days earlier. On the afternoon of January 6, the 39-year-old was in the district of Gänserndorf, in the vicinity of Marchegg and in the evening in the area of the town of Gänserndorf.

Radek B. had been to Vienna occasionally in the past, where he had probably worked in drywall construction on building sites. From the time he entered Austria on January 6 until the body was found on March 30, the police have no information about contact persons or addresses.

Information about the Radek B. case can be obtained by calling 059133/303333 - also confidentially.

Body moved after death
According to the provincial police directorate, the expert opinion of a forensic medical expert revealed that due to the dubious situation in which the body was found (scant clothing, no personal belongings), "it can be assumed that the body was moved and deposited post-mortem" in Schönkichen-Reyersdorf.

No details were given about the cause of death for reasons of criminal tactics.
