57 km/h too fast: two drivers now without a license

Within two hours on Friday on the B4 in Hausleiten in the district of Korneuburg, two speeding drivers were caught by police speed cameras. Both men have now lost their driving licenses.

First a 63-year-old man from the district of St. Pölten was "flashed", only two hours later a young man from Vienna (24). Both were caught at 157 km/h each. The speed limit in this section was 100 km/h. The drivers were both stopped and reported to the district administrative authority. Their driving licenses were confiscated for the time being. 

Just a few days earlier, a trio had suffered a similar fate on the Danube highway (A22). The three drivers had been driving 57, 58 and 61 km/h too fast. However, they can keep their cars. This is because - without a criminal record - the car can only be confiscated and auctioned off if the speed limit exceeds 80 km/h in urban areas or 90 km/h outside urban areas
