Fans shocked
“The Simpsons” let 34-year-old character die
He occupied a bar stool in Moe's Tavern for more than 34 years. Now the makers of "The Simpsons" have let the bar stool Larry die.
Even if many fans don't know him by name, Larry was a regular guest at Moe's at least since the episode "Homer's Odyssey" in season 1, which aired in January 1990.
"Simpsons" mourn the loss of pub visitor Larry
But in future, "Simpsons" fans will have to do without the pub visitor. Because in the episode "Cremains of the Day" from the 35th season, which aired on Sunday, Larry died at the (fictitious) age of 42.
Homer, Moe, Lenny and Carl, other regulars at the bar, took a trip to scatter Larry's ashes in the latest episode of "The Simpsons".
As Larry was a background character in the popular series, little is known about him. Homer and his bar friends also realize in the episode that they know very little about their former bar buddy with a penchant for alcohol and incoherent mumbling.
Fans shocked by series death
When Larry's mother tells them that he called the people from Moe's Tavern his "best friends" and therefore asks Homer and his buddies to share "fond memories", they come up with a few stories about fishing.
Fans of the series are horrified by Larry's passing. "I just found out they're dropping Larry from 'The Simpsons' tomorrow. I need a minute," wrote one shocked X user.
And another also expressed his dismay at the death of Larry. "I can't believe they killed Larry Dalrymple on The Simpsons last night," wrote this one.
