Scandal! Whip attack on Benzema teammate
After Al-Ittihad lost to Al-Hilal in the final of the Saudi Super Cup on Thursday, striker Abderrazak Hamdallah felt the wrath of a fan. Karim Benzema's team-mate was attacked with a whip as he walked into the catacombs.
Wild scenes after the final whistle: Hamdallah strolled towards the catacombs in disappointment when he was suddenly attacked by a man with a whip. The supposed Al-Ittihad fan could hardly be contained after the 1:4 humiliation against Al-Hilal.
His anger was focused entirely on the striker, whom he hit several times with the whip. The fan was then held back by stewards while he shouted a few poisonous words after the Moroccan international.
Was the striker being provocative?
Hamdallah himself seemed surprised by the absurd scene at first and then got into a rage himself. Stewards and teammates held the striker back and shouted a few words in the direction of the "whipping supporter".
It was then said that the striker had first sprayed the fan with water. The incident is currently being investigated. In terms of play, however, it was already a scourge for Benzema's team. Malcom (two goals), Salem Al-Dawsari and Nasser Aldawsari ensured a clear Al-Hilal triumph with their goals. Hamdallah, of all people, had equalized in the meantime.
