Hans Zimmer interprets anthem for Austrian GP
A new interpretation of the Austrian national anthem by Oscar winner Hans Zimmer and drummer Martin Grubinger will be played at the Austrian Grand Prix in Spielberg next summer!
Together, the two have created a rocking, electronic version of "Land der Berge", which will be presented together with 50 fans before the race. Applications are now open, the Red Bull Ring announced on Wednesday.
Year after year, the national anthem for the Grand Prix is performed in a special form. This time, the composer Hans Zimmer, known worldwide for his film music, has been engaged. "With my new interpretation, I have tried to honor the Austrian anthem - and still give it a new sound. It will be a bit more rock 'n' roll, a bit more electronic and a bit more 'dangerous'," he said about his work on the anthem.
"It's a huge opportunity for amateur musicians. Playing our national anthem on the start-finish straight in front of more than 100,000 F1 fans at the Red Bull Ring and a worldwide audience of millions on the screen is a unique moment that you won't forget for the rest of your life. It's really easy to take part. I would be delighted if participants picked up a musical instrument for the first time thanks to this challenge," says Grubinger, founder of MyGroove, initiator and musical director of the anthem challenge.
The Grand Prix at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg will take place this year from June 28 to 30.
