The Dermuth family has made history in Klagenfurt. Not only did Peter Alexander return to Otto Dermuth in St. Martin time and again for his beloved Salzburger Nockerln dumplings, but Chancellors Josef Klaus and Bruno Kreisky were also regular guests at the hotel. While the four-star-plus hotel remains open, the neighboring restaurant has now closed.

The Dermuths are a dazzling family in Klagenfurt. The hotel towers majestically over St. Martin, while the neighboring restaurant opened as a tavern back in 1749. "The business has been closed since October. The building fabric is currently being examined. We might expand the hotel complex, and the old building could possibly also be used for apartments," says Managing Director Johannes Striedinger. "The building is almost 300 years old and can no longer be run as a restaurant. The result of the review will show what the complex can still be used for," says Striedinger.

The renovated hotel, on the other hand, is flourishing. "We have 87 beds in 40 rooms, plus a restaurant anyway. Plus the Giovanni Bar with cool drinks and a great view of the Karawanken mountains - and in the most beautiful spot in the whole of Klagenfurt. The Royal Suite alone has 170 square meters," says Striedinger. Klagenfurt actor Max Müller, known from the Rosenheim Cops, is also a regular guest on his visits to his home town. Striedinger cooperates with the construction company Madile. "We are building luxury apartments here in St. Martin, and some new ones will be built."

Construction is also underway on the Hochrindl. "We are building many new apartments on the Auerhahnweg in the ski area, the building project has already been submitted," says Striedinger. "It's a wonderful ski area, but something urgently needs to happen. Lift operator Alexandra Bresztowanszky has been there for seven years and no new apartments have been built in that time. They could be used for summer and winter."
